This morning's report by Mr Weatherman on YouTube has convinced us we have to go. I'm not going to be brave and hope Hurricane Beryl goes north of Bequia. The tropical storm has been upgraded to a category 1 hurricane and named Beryl. The projected path has been revised to pass over Bequia. Time to go. Time to flee.
We opt to do the right thing and go ashore to formally clear out, bound for Carriacou. It's 40nm south and we'll be there in daylight.
We arrive in Tyrell Bay at sunset. We see many boat masts poking out above the mangroves; some people have already made the move into what was once described to us as the best hurricane hole in the Caribbean. We don't agree with that description. Early tomorrow morning we'll look at the latest forecast and make a decision on how far south we need to go. This is getting scary.
