We were going to move to one of the more southern islands until we discovered we could get internet on the boat. A quick rethink and a move from the north to the south side of the island and we can log on tthrough Alfonso Arias. Who or what is Alfonso Arias? An Italian singing school? A restaurant with music? We never found out. What I did find out through reading my emails is I have a professional couple wanting to rent my house when the current tenant leaves at the end of April. Very good news. I also downloaded more fish recipes in anticipation of the sea harvest we will be gathering in the coming months.
Our dinghy in hauled on deck with the equivalent of dinghy flu; leaking air from areas known and unknown. David is working hard to cure it, repatching former leaks and searching for new areas of malaise with a squeezy bottle filled with water and washing up liquid. Spray liquid on to dinghy and if air is leaking it forms bubbles. Simple and effective. In the meantime we are using the kayak as our runaround.
We wanted to explore the island and have a closer look at the posh houses so we kayaked over in our swimwear and then out of a dry bag pulled out shorts and t shirts to be more appropriately an attired. Walking around in the late afternoon sun had the feeling of an English village on a summer evening. How? The houses are English in style, there's a village green surrounded by deciduous trees though this is the end of the dry season and the branches are bare, the tarmaced road is crumbling at the edges and there are birds twittering hig in the trees. All it was missing was the gentle crack of wood on willow. Even the local hotel was flying a Union Jack.
