We have to go back to our least favourite anchorage for 3 nights. It's the rolliest, noisiest place; all day and all night pilot boats for the canal motor through the anchorage into the dock creating big swells that knock us from side to side. Add to this a dinghy dock that's difficult to tie onto and chews up the dinghy and for which you're charged $5 a day for the privilege.
The 7 mile trip back was interesting. We left late afternoon after a thunderstorm and sailed between oil tankers, cargo ships and freighters anchored off waiting to transit the canal. I doubt if we will ever see such a concentration of commercial vessels again.
