We couldn't put it off any longer, time to move on from Anaho bay and discover new places. There are still hundreds more islands to choose from. Anaho Bay on the north shore of Nuku Hiva is beautiful. When we arrived we planned to stay for three days, but we kept saying 'one more day' and ended up here for a week. Time flies when you're having a good time .
And now it is time to move on to the town of Taiohae on the south shore to re-provision before hitting the Tuamotus where there is nothing to buy and nothing grown. I sincerely hope we don't really hit the islands though as less than 1m above sea level you can't see them until you are less than 2 miles away. If there are palm trees growing they are visible from further out.
On our afternoon sail down the east coast of Nuku Hiva we were escorted by a 100+ pod of large 10'+ dolphins, possibly melon heads because of their round heads, and then bottlenose and finally small ones (4') which might have been pygmy dolphins. All delightful and on the way we caught a dorado which is both a beautiful green/ emerald / yellow fish and tasty.

Into the harbour and anchor down and with time to say hello to our friends who are already here before a fresh fish supper. The other 3 portions were bagged and in the freezer within an hour of the fish coming out of the water. The hardest thing is choosing how we want it cooked. Our current favourite is in a sauce of onions (should be leeks but they don't exist here), my own pickled ginger, black mustard seeds and coconut milk with a little turmeric and lime juice. As good as any restaurant.
