A switch in the weather from balmy without wind to over 25 knots with swell cleared the anchorage within two hours as 18 boats lifted anchor, some more easily than others as their chains were caught under coral heads, to find protection behind the few trees there are. The day before David had used the scuba kit to check our anchor and found we were tangled in old chains left behind from a defunct pearl farm. He manually lifted and shifted our 44lbs anchor. Not easy underwater.
On the day of the blow we were thinking of moving too. David was dropping the dinghy from its night time lift back into the water and bent over to reach the air pump and that's when his back went 'pop'. He was in so much pain down his legs he couldn't move and therefore we couldn't move. That night there were 3 of the original 18 boats left and lots of room to swing.
