The view point is called Belvedere and from here you have Bali Hai Mount behind you and views over Opunuhu and Cooks Bays below. Another group outing; Dignity, Whoosh, Callisto, Sea Mist and the Jacksters on a hike up a hill, a tall hill. Moorea is a series of craters of extinct volcanoes, lush and pretty. The road we followed was shaded by trees and wound past a shrimp farm, the agricultural college and fields of cows, goats. One could almost have been in rural France except in rural France you don't pick windfall passion fruit from the grass verge. Or you might...
On the way up there were handy archaeological ruins next to the road. Marae is the local word. A gathering place to honour the gods with human sacrifices dating back about a century.
The view from the look out was worth it. I took some photos that failed to do the vista justice. Then we turned around and walked back down.
