Thursday 25 November Paihia farmers market

The tourist town of Paihia 5 miles along the estuary from Opua has a farmer's market on the green every Thursday afternoon. Paihia is the tourist town of the Bay of Islands with souvenir shops and lots of booths selling adventure trips, fishing trips, etc.
David and I hopped a lift in with Gloria and Gene from Pincoya to go to the market and also to fill our jerry jugs with petrol for the outboard motor.

The market has excellent produce at reasonable prices and it's all locally grown; sweet strawberries, avocados, asparagus, kiwi fruit, apples, oranges, honey, herbs. We finished our shopping first and had time to sit down with an ice cram and enjoy the entertainment; a duo of (possibly Maori, possibly Pacific islanders), one on the keyboard, the other playing the guitar and they both had good voices. It was nice to take the time to listen.
