Wednesday 2 Motuihe island

Motuihe beach
Looking from above Motuihe island is the shape of a tricorn hat. We anchored off a long beach called Takutairaroa Bay on the NE with one other boat for company. Over the last 2 days we've seen a dramatic drop in the number of boats out cruising. Summer holiday season ended on 31 January and the locals have gone back to work.
It was a lovely day for a walk and the island is a nature reserve. We tramped from one end to the other which took a couple of hours of easy effort. There was us, three rangers and many birds about today.
