Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest. We heard the local people in church singing hymns. Dick from Geramar came over to help us install Maxsea navigation programme as yet another back up to our existing Navionics and C map options. The pluses are to have an independent alternative should the Raymarine chart plotter fail, ie a lightning strike and he gave us all their tracks from last year which is invaluable. If we follow where Geramar has been we can find a safe way through the ever present coral reefs with our deep draft boat. The modern electronic charts for Fiji are based on Admiralty charts last update more than 150 years ago and doubtful on their accuracy. For example in one place the chart shows a depth of 0.3m. However, Dick sailed over this spot and guarantees it's not less than 30m.
There were more boat jobs in the afternoon and an invitation to Stray Kitty for dinner in the evening. We had tuna steaks in home made buns. Delicious.
