Saturday 16 February Farewell Sydney

From Balmoral Beach we moved a mile to Quarantine Bay in the lee of North Heads waiting for the promised southerly which was due to kick in after lunch. It would have been nice to go ashore and see the historic Victorian quarantine hospital which gives the bay it's name but we had heavy rain all morning.
After lunch the wind did pipe up and we were able to sail out of the Heads, bye bye Sydney. It was the right decision to sail down from Brisbane. We just hope our journey north won't be too difficult as we wait for the southerlies which intersperse the prevalent northerlies; patience will be the best plan.

We arrived in Broken Bay at the end of the afternoon and went into Refuge Bay where there were lots and lots of mooring balls and lots of boats on the yacht club mooring balls. No-one said anything when we picked one up for the night. And it was a very peaceful night. We slept soundly.
