Monday 4 March Heading north

Suddenly the sun is back. After two days of almost continual rain the clouds have passed and it's a beautiful day. We've checked the weather again and it seems we may still have favourable ESE winds to make the 80 miles to Port Stephens overnight and ensuring a daylight arrival which is a necessity when you're going into new territory.
Vice Commodore Bruce had advised the local motor yacht club has the cheapest diesel for the next 400 miles and he was right. A few phone calls to marinas ahead and the Royal Motor Yacht Club was the winner and a super convenient fuel dock. We filled the tank mid afternoon and made our way out to the heads. A much smoother sea awaited us and perfect wind. We felt we'd made the right decision to leave today as we settled into an easy rhythm of sailing once more. After all it is more then 2 months since we did proper open ocean sailing.
