Yosi
had arranged a car and driver to
take us and Geramar to the Borneo Hypermarket in he big town. It's
super new, super clean and has foreign products on the shelves. We
like it. With food gathered we planned to leave Kumai on the
outgoing afternoon tide.
Planned is the key word. Everything
was stowed, engine on and David went forward lift anchor and the
engine juddered to a halt. The same issue we had in Medana Bay and
on the way here a few days ago. On both those times replacing a fuel
filter and bleeding the system cured it although David spend many
hours going through the engine looking for other causes as the diesel
didn't seem to be dirty.
This time it seems the problem is
something bigger. David worked in the hot engine room, sweat pouring
off him all afternoon and still he didn't find the definitive answer
to our problem which is frustrating. We may have a fix which will
get us to the next place and plan to leave at dawn tomorrow for a 270
mile trip west to Belitung island.
