There is an adage in our world never say goodbye.  Friends are made and we go different way only to bump into (hopefully ever literally) at the least expected time.  Yesterday we came into sleepy Danga Bay to be greeted by Pickles whom we last saw in Whangerei eighteen months ago.  We first met family Pickles, Guy, Joanie, Christopher, Julia, Henry & William in Panama City in February 2010.  The children were playing Tarzan swinging on the halyards and racing around the boat.  But I digress.  Last night we spent a wonderful evening catching up on happenings since we last met and getting tips on sailing Malaysia and Thailand.
With Joanie's tips on the best way to visit downtown JB we hopped a bus and ten minutes later we're in the heart of the busy city.  JB is the second largest city in Malaysia after Kuala Lumpur and sits at the northern end of the causeway which links Malaysia and Singapore.  Prices are cheaper than Singapore so many Singaporeans come over for shopping and duty free.
Shopping was on my mind as we walked in to City Square mall, five floors of retail and a food court on the 6th floor.  First thing was to raid the ATM for some local cash and to buy a SIM card for the phone.  Then we had a yummy lunch for a handful of ringgits and a coffee before catching the bus back.
