Queue;
to form a line waiting for service. From 16th century
heraldic term meaning tail of an animal. We learned a great deal
about queuing with patience today while we waited first to apply for
and then to collect our Thai visas. In the morning we queued for an
hour and a half to submit our forms, passports and passport photos
and in the afternoon we were kept waiting for an hour because they
had been overwhelmed by the applications today and hadn't finished
processing.
We
were told this was a rare day of exceptional numbers. We were just
unfortunate to turn up today. Next day we heard the line took 10
minutes.
Our treat for so much patience was to find an excellent Indian restaurant in Chulia Street where we had probably one to the best curry and nan bread we've had for a long time. The people of Penang love to eat and they certainly have more restaurants then many other places we've been. It's so good and cheap that we only eat breakfast on board at the moment.
