Thursday 5 December Sailing to Langkawi

Today we did something amazing. We sailed. For the first time since 1 September (I checked in the log book) we had constant 15 knot winds a little forward of the beam, plus a one knot positive current, which allowed us to fly at close to 9 knots all morning. It felt so good after the months of motoring or motor sailing (winds too light to sail better than 3 knots so assisted by engine).
With the breeze through the cockpit and the sound of water rushing past the hull we were grinning and happy. This is the type of cruising we enjoy.
With the super speed we'd covered the distance from our overnight stop at Pulau Bintan much quicker than expected and had the anchor down in front of Kuah town at 1 o'clock giving us plenty of time to visit the Harbour master and Customs to clear in and time to visit one of the many duty free chocolate shops. It may be my birthday tomorrow but David felt the need of a present for him too.
Langkawi made up of 99 islands one, all with duty free status, a holiday destination and on the border with Thailand. From here we need to sail (hopefully) 25 miles to arrive in Ko Lipe.
