There's
an adage about not returning to the same place twice because the
second time can't live up to your memory of the first. Not so or
visit to Da Oliva restaurant close to Club de Pesce marina.
Nine
years ago we came here with twenty of our best cruising friends for
Christmas Eve lunch. Shirley and Taffy from The Road had organised.
We shared a table with Jackie and Gary of Inspiration Lady. I
remember the food was very good.

Walking
in to the restaurant I couldn't see any changes – the same mix of
Columbian and Middle Eastern décor. The menu a mix of Middle
Eastern and modern European. David and I chose a couple of starters,
but at the suggestion of our waitress ordered one to share. She was
right. A platter of smoked salmon roses on a bed of dressed lettuce
was huge. We both had the same main – filet mignon wrapped in
bacon with mushroom sauce, and as it was Christmas a whole bottle of
red wine to share.
We
rolled back to the marina fit to burst and trundled out to Jackster
feeling very satisfied and like Christmas had really begun.
A
few days later I was looking at my blog post for 24 December 2009 and
came to Christmas Eve. I had to chuckle and show David what I'd
written and the pictures from that day. First we looked so much
younger and second, we'd eaten the same meal. Obviously neither our
tastes or the menu had changed in the intervening years.
