13 February Linton Bay marina

big wahoo landed

Yesterday we sailed from Esnasdup up the Holandes channel to Chichime to put us in a good spot to leave for Linton Bay today. There was some wind, but too little to sail at more than 3 knots. With a reservation in the marina for a couple of night we opted to crack on and motor sailed.
Motoring isn't fun. Catching fish though, and a giant wahoo at that, is. This is the second largest fish we've ever caught and landed. This one a monster 1.4m / almost 5 foot, 20 kilo animal. The largest fish we've caught was also a wahoo off Tweed Heads, Australia in 2013.
Polly's eyes were like saucers in anticipation of the feast to come. As David cleaned the fish Polly was tucking in to the off cuts. With the freezer already topped up with lobster it was with careful packing I was able to get most of the fillets in. The rest had to go in the fridge earmarked for eating tonight, tomorrow night and the next day.
We arrived at Linton Bay marina at 1 o'clock and were given clear instructions where to go for our berth. Dock man Stirling was waiting to take our lines and the slip is generously wide and long.
We plan to stay a couple of days to equalize batteries, wash Jackster inside and out with unlimited fresh water and to do boats jobs which require us to be alongside. And we'll clear out from Panama ready to sail on to San Andres, Colombia after the weekend.

I like LBM. There are very nice showers, free Wifi, a laundry, a fuel station and lovely Kenisha in the marina office. Polly is happy too. She can get off the boat and explore the floating dock.
