The
Government has issued a new edict after the police came across large
gatherings of people of the beach on Friday, some people even had
coolers filled with beer. It seems the local tradition at Easter is
to have parties on the beach, barbecues and camping on the beach. Of
course these contravene the social distancing rules and the privilege
of beach access is now denied. Until further notice no-one, not even
private houses with private beaches, can cross the high water mark.
Anyone found walking on the beach, swimming from the beach, kayaking,
fishing are liable for a fine of $1000 and a month in prison. Tough
times here in Cayman. The weather is calm and settled. It would be
perfect conditions for using the dive moorings and enjoying some
great diving with no dive boats operating at the current time, but
there's a ban on maritime activities.
If
we want to go in our dinghy we can only do this with permission from
Port Security who we contact on VHF.
