12 September Eagle Cove, Magothy River

Where have we been and what have we been doing for the last couple of weeks you may be thinking? As the song goes 'Busy doing nothing', but busy doing ordinary things so ordinary it would be a tedious blog entry.

From St Michaels we crossed the river back to Annapolis for one week which turned into two weeks as we waited for a parcel to arrive. We met Ingrid and Fred Taute on catamaran Gizmo and then two more boats and did a sunset float one evening, four dinghies meeting at a mooring ball for social distanced chatting with sundowners. We topped up the fuel tank and filled the water tank on a wet Thursday morning. Not many boat jobs as David has been suffering with a bout of sciatica and we monitored the hurricane season; the most active season since 2005.

From Annapolis we moved 11 miles up the west shore to a spot in the Magothy River called Eagle Cove, north of Gibson island (39°05.42N 076°26.63W, 3.1m mud) in the company of Gizmo. Being in Eagle Cove is like anchoring in a lake with three sides of trees and on the north shore a meadow grazed by ponies sweeping down from a majestic white house with porticos. Of course there are eagles; bald eagles and the smaller ospreys live side by side in abundance.

It was so nice we came for a couple of days and stayed a week. It was busier with visiting boats at the weekend as one would expect and on weekdays we took a rockin' from the wake of ski boats at sunset. The 6 knot speed limit is only applicable on Saturdays and Sundays but free WiFi from a guest house nearby runs strong everyday. This plus a passing northerly persuaded us to linger longer in this pretty spot. When you're not in a hurry to be anywhere fast why rush off?
