21 August St Michael's Classic Car Museum

Looking through Things to do in St Michaels on the internet I came across the Classic Car Museum and thought this would be just the thing for my petrol head husband. Due to C-19 visits are by appointment, again, great to be able to a personal viewing in these germ ridden times.

Sarah, the director, was already waiting when we turned up a few minutes before our 11am slot. She explained why this small barn and collection is unique. First, the barn was built by an Amish firm from Pennsylvania and has no nails in its construction. Secondly, most of the exhibits are privately owned and are lent to the museum in exchange for secure garage space in a climate controlled atmosphere. The museum owns some cars including an immaculate black MG TC.  A small issue of the barn is that sap weeps and drips from untreated knots, falling onto the vehicles, or into a tray placed under the drips.

What of the collection? An eclectic mix from British classics, early American Fords, a fire engine, one Ferrari and three motorbikes. One of the Fords is the same model as Bonnie and Clyde drove, a V8. It's reported Clyde wrote to Henry Ford to thank him for making a car which could out pace the police cars at that time.
