Another day, another town and another museum. However, the CBMM is not just another museum. This one has an active boat building department where they are creating a replica of a seventeenth century sailing boat, The Dove, which brought the first Colonial settlers into the area. From start to finish in two years it should be taking its first paying passengers around the bay in late 2021. The museum has a collection of historic shallow draft crab and oyster boats perfect for collecting the rich harvest of the estuary for the last 200 years.
The site covers 18 acres and there are so many things to see and volunteers to chat to it took us four hours to see everything.
