Our first week here has been busy, settling into our new local cruising community. We've met and made new friends including German Nick and his Mum, Anna, on Malok. I've had a much needed haircut, used the self service laundry at Spice Island marina, eaten at Prickly Bay marina, had a boutique beer at the Brewery and been into St Georges, the capital and biggest town in Grenada.
We caught the No 1 bus to St Georges to visit Port Louis marina where we plan to stay for three months from the middle of July. We'd made our provisional booking while we were in Carriacou and wanted the reassurance that the marina would meet are expectations and we would be happy to spend three months there. We were shown around and offered three possible slips to choose from. Our choice is on the dock closest to the facilities, tucked in a corner with minimal foot traffic and which we feel is safer for Polly and Jackster.
They
expect to have more boats arriving as the season goes on, but on the
day we visited the marina was about a quarter full. More evidence
that the marine and tourist industries are struggling. Our win
though as prices are slashed by more than 50% for stays longer than
90 days. buy 5 mangoes, get 1 cat free
