For the third time in our cruising history we sailed into Prickly Bay on the south coast of Grenada. First was in July 2009 before heading west to the Panama Canal. Our second was in August 2018 when we completed our circumnavigation and now we're back again.
Our sail from Carriacou is a pleasant 35nm with trade winds on the beam. We sailed down the leeward side of island and then had to motor 2 miles to wind to reach Prickly Bay. It rolled in '08. It rolled in '18 and it's still rolly in '21. There is a difference this time; there are noticeably less boats in the bay this year.
Our first morning here we listened to the cruisers net on Ch66 and noted how busy the social scene seems to be. I'm looking forward to being happily busy. Our first event was straight after breakfast - a boat jumble at Prickly Bay marina. We took a dinghy load of ex-treasures from our over filled bilge with the hope of swapping them for beer tokens. On the return journey the dinghy floated higher in the water as we had sold all our spare fishing gear; rods, reels and rod holders. That'll give us more room in the lockers.
