The party week is over and it's back to work for us although we do have the motorbike for a second week. The owner, known as Fast Manicou, the cruisers go-to-guy for beer delivery, gas bottles fills, provisions and bike rental, offered us a second week at half price.
Back to work means continuing with our list of upgrades. Since we hauled out in April we began to think that our name on the stern is past it's best. Though still good for thirteen years in continual tropical sun.
We
bought the original in the UK before we left in 2008 to take with us
to Florida. Thirteen years later not only is the same company still
in business but they have our original order on file. I ordered and
had a new 'Jackster' and 'Greenwich' posted to me while I was in
England last month.off with the old the shadow remains
| on with the new |
Removing the old name required warming with a heat gun and careful peeling. I was surprised to see it had left a mark even after David buffed the fibre glass.
When it came to fitting we found that the Jackster was a perfect match. However, Greenwich had come out 4cms short. A few days ago we were at a local signage business buying dark brown vinyl to recover the faded fibre glass panels that sit between the side windows.
| project to do another day |
With the bike to get there it was an easy ride back with the new Greenwich and the correct measurement for them to reprint for us. The irony was this was cheaper than our UK supplier and much closer! Thank you to Stones Customs.
Fitting of the saddle brown vinyl to our side panels is on the 'to do' list.
