It may be a new year but we're still here in the marina having extended our stay for another month. Omicron has been spreading through the Caribbean and we have no desire to leave Grenada, which we really like, and not be able to come back. It's a game of patience and no real hardship as we like it here. Polly loves the gardens too.

Last week she had a meeting with one of the wild cats that live on property. She came minus her collar, blood on her throat and blood on her bad foot. A precautionary trip to the vet next day (where she howled in protest when she saw the vet) reassured us. The blood might have been from the other cat or from her foot.

Staying on the dock allows us to continue with work on Jackster. I've been deep cleaning cupboards, David has serviced all the winches which included removing one to clean underneath. He is very thorough. He's also working through each storage area to check what we are carrying that has no further use. Plenty of items get chucked, but we also find treasures we'd forgotten we had. I cleared books, clothes, old linen. It's very cathartic to dump the unused...ready to refill with new!

While we were head down bums up in the bilge boats from the 2022 Royal Ocean Cruising Race began to arrive from The Canaries. It took the fastest trimarans six days to cover 3000nm. The first monohull to take line honours, Commanche #007, took longer than the trimarans but still set a new record for the race.
The arrivals of the race boats coincided with the arrival of the superyachts, also coming across the Atlantic, for their winter season in the Caribbean. Seen behind Commanche is Lady Lara, a 90m palace which we understand belongs to a Khazakstan business man.
We might be as bling as one nor as fast as either, but we're here, happy and looking forward to moving on at the end of the month.
