26 January Scuppered

Just when things are going well the gremlins throw a spanner in the engine.

We had been working towards leaving the marina and Grenada on the first of February, doing the last few checks and fixes, that was until David woke this morning complaining of severe sciatic pain. Yesterday he had been fitting a one way valve on the pipe that drains the forward head. It involved twisting and bending to reach under the floor. Today our plans to move on must be put on hold until the pain abates.

David's last bout of sciatica was almost two years ago and that episode floored him for three weeks.

Trying to find the upside to a difficult situation I reflect that we are in the fortunate position of being safe in the marina, no threats of bad weather and no deadline to meet. I like to think of it as the philosophical approach to cruising.
