It was 220nm wet a bumpy ride north, sailing hard on the wind into a northerly swell to reach Portsmouth bay in Dominica taking a lot of water over the bow.
While in Dominica there was a problem with the starter solenoid on the genset: David solved this by getting in the engine room to start it manually. Arriving in The Saints this morning we picked up a mooring ball off La Bourg in Terre de Haut. We are here in time for Christmas. But I was counting my chickens before the eggs had hatched.
Again
David had to start the generator manually. As he did there was a
disconcerting spark from the electric side. Then he found it was
only producing 50v and not the 230v needed to charge the new
batteries. After two frustrating hours of work, this time he
couldn't mend it and we took the decision to book into the marina in
Pointe-a-Pitre on the main island for ten days. There we would have
the shore power we needed and access to an Onan technician.marina bas du fort decorations
