I've returned to David, Polly and Grenada after a busy and happy couple of months at home. I was with Mum to help celebrate her 90th birthday and then spending lots of quality time together. I met up with as many of my friends I was able including a short trip to Oban, Scotland.
Then there was shopping! Clothes, shoes and the obligatory boat bits. When I landed in Grenada and hauled my over stuffed dive bag through Customs you are always asked if you have any boat parts. Me? No, no, but I do have some new clothes and coffee pods because you can't buy them in Grenada. They let me pass.
It's true the parts for the engine with only small. What I did bring back included a replacement magnetron for the microwave which stopped working a couple of weeks ago. David considered buying a new oven and what is available on island are inferior and silly expensive so he ordered a magnetron which was readily available in the UK. He's now fitted it and we are cooking with electricity once more. Just one of the many stories of how a small item can improve one's quality of live aboard life.
David sent me a photo of a bedraggled cat. Polly had taken herself off for a walk to the garden one afternoon. David was in the cockpit enjoying an afternoon coffee when he saw her on the way back. She was so happy that when she reached the bridge she had to have a final roll of joy to celebrate another success mission except she had forgotten to check how close she was to the edge. David was watching as she rolled off the edge and fell in the water! He rushed to the rescue and called her to come to him where he was lying on the dock with waiting arms. He called her. She called back and struck out swimming hard towards him and safety. She was lucky he spotted her, not so lucky when she had to have a freshwater shower. Usually we have two people to do this, one to hold an angry feline, one to rinse and dry. This is the result of one person – a drip dry cat.
