27 September New additions for the sculpture park

There are new statues for the submerged sculpture park on the west coast north of St Georges and they have been on show at the weekend in Prickly Bay.  We went to have a look before they are moved into position.

I was very impressed with the 'jhab jhab' and carnival character sculptures They are from plaster casts of real people in carnival costume which are then recast in concrete with concrete bases and painted.  Each has tubes and additions which will encourage natural habitats for fish and corals.

In a week or two they will be put on a barge and taken to the already established underwater sculpture park for divers and snorkellers to enjoy.
