Olympic torch arrives by boat into Fort de France
There was a bit of a kerfuffle just before sunset with helicopters and a fleet of boats surrounding an incoming Maxi Trimaran. Google search told us that this was the arrival of the Olympic torch. The trimaran had sailed from France to French Guyana then to Guadeloupe and lastly Martinique linking all the French overseas territories. We understand another yacht had sailed the French islands of the Pacific and Indian oceans taking the flame to Tahiti and Reunion.
Back in Martinique the celebrations were kicking off with bands and speeches, flashing lights. Tomorrow the flame will go on a tour of the island – lucky flame.
