21 June Bequia

We arrived in Bequia last night, a small island south of the big island of St Vincent and part of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

This morning we went to clear in at the post office which was quick, inexpensive and lovely clearance staff. A really nice welcome to Bequia. We had a leisurely explore of the town which is small and didn't take long. I'm excited to be here. The last time we visited Bequia we were our way to Grenada in June 2009 and since then we've sailed past without stopping because if you are going north the islands lie too far east for an easy sail given the west setting current and usual easterly winds. Approaching from the north at this time of year is a much kinder approach. Our plan is to spend a couple of weeks here in Bequia and then meander through the other Grenadine islands before arriving in Grenada mid July. We have our regular hurricane season berth booked at Port Louis from 22 July.
