10 November Old wrecks and reefs

Today we dived on the wreck of Hilma Hooker. The guide book says it is internationally reknowned yet we'd never heard of it before coming here. Every country claims to have 'the best' something or other, be it wreck, snorkelling or coral reefs. Our personal best is Indonesia for diversity of critters and Galapagos for the sharks. OK we're spoilt, but still enjoying each new place. The Hilma Hooker was used for drug smuggling and caught and confiscated by the authorities in the mid 80s. It then sank when they were moving it and came to rest in 30m on the reef. It's main inhabitants today are 6 large and lumbering tarpons. For the afternoon dive we chose to go back to Klein Bonaire and float with the little fishes.
