...say
au revoir or see you in the next island but never say goodbye because
you never know when paths will cross again. And they crossed today
first in Rebak marina where we stopped in for an open day event which
had finished early (as in before we arrived). Jackster was anchored
outside and we came in with our borrowed dinghy to say hi to friends
and to go for a cheeky dip in the pool.
On
the dock we found four boats who we last saw either in NZ, Fiji or
New Caledonia almost two years ago. These were the people we jumped
the Pacific puddle with in 2010; Callisto, Sea Mist, Kilkea and
Tahina. Mike from Callisto was at the pool but invited us back to
the boat for a drink where John from Sea Mist popped in. Then
walking down the dock we met Cheryl (Sea Mist) and Marion and David
of Kilkea. All crossed from Australia one year ahead of us and all
have left their boats in Rebak marina for a year while they went home
or land travelled in SE Asia. There was no life on Tahina, Frank had
gone to Singapore for a couple of days.
Old
friends didn't stop here. Back to Jackster and on to the sheltered
bay off north Cenaga beach for a rendezvous with Shelia and Stuart of
Imagine. We bumped into (not literally) Shelia ans Stuart in
Galapagos when we swung too close. Shelia went home from Bora Bora
that year and we ended up buddy boating with Stuart as a single
hander all the way to NZ. Catching up was like we'd seen them only
last week. So the adage never say goodbye rang true today for us.
