We've arrived in paradise! Les Saintes are a small group of islands 20 miles south of main island Guadeloupe. To protect the marine environment it's mooring balls or anchoring in deep water a long way out. We pick a mooring to the north of the town and when a ball closer to the shore becomes available move in because, yes, the outside moorings are affected by swell and roll!
At last I have my desire of peace and quiet. The dinghy dock is excellent, low level, no nasty concrete and plenty of cleats for all to tie to. The 'town' is pretty, quintessentially French creole, electric golf carts and electric bikes. Dinner at Ti Kaz'la probably the best meal ashore for a long time.
And then
there's the snorkelling. Swimming from the boat a met a turtle, saw
spotted moray eels free swimming, a stone fish, porcupine fish,
anemones, four lobsters and bearded fire worms. I'm impressed. This
is as good as muck diving.
